Welsh falling out resources

Crisis, supported by Shelter Cymru, were funded by the Oak Foundation to work with a selection of Welsh Local Authorities (LA) from February 2021 to March 2023 to explore ways in which processes and systems could be redesigned to decrease the number of households falling out of the statutory housing system, within the prevention and relief duties of the Housing Wales Act 2014.

Across the 22 LAs in Wales, the fall out rates ranged from 8% to 29% within the LA caseloads of people seen in 2019-2020.

The project set out to:

  • Explore and understand at a local level the unique factors, issues and processes, which were leading to people falling out of the HWA
  • Develop realistic action plans, to test service changes which were tailored to the local context.

Below you will find links to the end of project reports for the LA that participated in the project, progress reports which include the project detail, methodology and progress for each LA.

There are also links to a range of resources which LAs may find helpful should they wish to carry out a similar project.
