Grow for Crisis launches!

Since the coronavirus outbreak began, we’ve never had a better understanding of the value of home – and why having somewhere safe and secure to live should be available to all.

People experiencing homelessness have been, and still are, especially at risk from coronavirus. Right now, people are still without permanent homes or at risk of being pushed into homelessness by financial pressures caused by the pandemic.

Sat 20th March marks the launch of Grow For Crisis, a new campaign in support of Crisis this Spring, a season for gardeners and green-fingered beginners to raise much-needed funds to help end homelessness.

Whether you have a garden, a window box or a couple of pots, no space is too small to start growing. Try salad leaves, chilli plants, and radishes to see your hard work rewarded quickly, or sunflowers to brighten every day. Veg, herbs, flowers and everything in between all count!

Set up your own GoFundMe campaign for Crisis and you can:

  • Get sponsored to take on a green-fingered challenge, such as beating your friends in a seed-sprouting competition (and raise the most donations in doing so!)
  • Host a virtual gardening lesson and share your skills with others and link to your campaign if anyone wants to donate
  • Share your campaign with friends, family, and gardening or allotment group

Whoever raises the most money for Crisis will gain the opportunity to learn from vegetable gardener (and ‘no dig’ gardening guru) Charles Dowding, with free access to his online course ‘From Seed to Harvest’, in which he shares a lifetime’s worth of tips and tricks for growing 15 key vegetables.

Charles said: “I am happy to support this campaign. I so admire people who work for groups like Crisis, filling such a gap in society. Do contribute if you can.”

Get involved with Grow For Crisis today, by launching your own GoFundMe campaign - find out how here.

The campaign which has raised the most will be announced after the campaign finishes on 20th June.
