Rabiah's story
"I moved to London about four years ago from California where there is a major housing crisis, so homelessness is something I’m passionate about. I see volunteering in the shop as a chance to give back to the community I live in and love, in Camden.
"In the shop, the team appreciate who I am. As volunteers we’re all individuals with different interests, backgrounds, careers, ages – but we’re all appreciated. Some of us love chatting to customers at the till, some are more suited to working in the back and styling, and some do window displays – don’t ever ask me to do a window display because I don’t have the fashion sense! But I think the fact we all contribute to one cause is amazing.
"Being part of the Crisis volunteering community, I feel like I get to be part of this really cool club. I’ve met people I wouldn’t have otherwise encountered in my life and it’s taught me to approach everyone with empathy and curiosity."
By sharing stories we can change attitudes and build a movement for permanent, positive change. Stand against homelessness and help us end it for good.
