We recently shared the news that the Domestic Abuse Bill was back in the house for a second reading, and that we were asking for the Bill to include the amendment that anyone fleeing domestic abuse would have the right to a safe home.
Thanks to the tireless voice of our campaigners and supporters like you, we have won!
Over the weekend, the Government announced that it will amend the Domestic Abuse Bill so that anyone made homeless as a result of domestic abuse will have a legal right to housing. Robert Jenrick, the Secretary of State, also went on to thank Crisis for our leadership in this campaign.
This is a landmark moment for survivors of domestic abuse. This change will prevent thousands from becoming homeless and undoubtedly save lives.
A huge thanks and congratulations to everyone who has helped with our campaign. It’s yet another striking example of what can be done if there is the political will to tackle the issue, and another step closer to seeing homelessness ended for good.
