John Frieda and Crisis

See me, see my potential.

John Frieda and Crisis believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and have the opportunity to fulfil their potential: however, people experiencing homelessness are often denied this chance.

We are working together to ensure that people experiencing homelessness have access to the support they need to help build their confidence and unlock their potential.

Our partnership

Everybody should be treated with dignity and have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. However, we know that people experiencing homelessness face many pressures that make it hard to fulfil that potential - including being ignored and stigmatised by wider society.

Crisis and John Frieda have partnered to deliver free haircuts and products to our Skylight members (people at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness) across the UK. For these individuals, access to personal care products, haircut appointments and washing facilities can prove challenging due to the lack of a safe and stable place to call home.

In October 2022, for every John Frieda product purchased on Boots online store a donation was made to support our work to end homelessness. Funds raised through this campaign ensured our Skylight coaches are able to continue to offer individual support services for our members, addressing their employment, housing and wellbeing needs and ultimately helping them to leave homelessness for good.

About Crisis

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. Every year we work side by side with thousands of people, to help them rebuild their lives and leave homelessness behind for good.

About John Frieda

John Frieda helps people unlock their self-confidence and self-expression by providing tailored haircare solutions.

Haircuts at Christmas

Christmas can be very challenging, but particularly for people who do not have a place that they can call home.

Every December, Crisis mobilises a huge volunteer effort to bring warmth, companionship, and vital services to people at one of the hardest times of the year. We help people take their first steps out of homelessness, offering year-round support and training at our Skylight centres to help them leave homelessness behind for good.

Following the launch of our joint 'See me, see my potential' campaign for World Homeless Day on 10 October 2022, John Frieda have continued to provide free salon sessions and haircare items for people experiencing homelessness at our Christmas centres across London. Hairdressers were directed to volunteer at the centre by John Frieda, and delivered 14 days of haircuts to help boost the confidence and self-esteem of our guests.

John Frieda also generously donated £21,000 in products to Crisis Skylight centres across Great Britain, which will be used throughout the year by people at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness, such as sofa-surfing, unsuitable temporary accommodation, hostels, hotels, B&Bs and even rough sleeping.

10 staff members of John Frieda also joined together to volunteer their time at our Crisis at Christmas centres over the festive period. One volunteer said that 'spending the run up to Christmas giving back to our local community, volunteering with so many inspiring and like-minded people was the best feeling.’

A huge thank you to all at John Frieda for their amazing support, and we look forward to continuing to work together throughout 2023 and beyond to help people experiencing homelessness be seen for their full potential.
