Haircuts at Christmas
Christmas can be very challenging, but particularly for people who do not have a place that they can call home.
Every December, Crisis mobilises a huge volunteer effort to bring warmth, companionship, and vital services to people at one of the hardest times of the year. We help people take their first steps out of homelessness, offering year-round support and training at our Skylight centres to help them leave homelessness behind for good.
Following the launch of our joint 'See me, see my potential' campaign for World Homeless Day on 10 October 2022, John Frieda have continued to provide free salon sessions and haircare items for people experiencing homelessness at our Christmas centres across London. Hairdressers were directed to volunteer at the centre by John Frieda, and delivered 14 days of haircuts to help boost the confidence and self-esteem of our guests.
John Frieda also generously donated £21,000 in products to Crisis Skylight centres across Great Britain, which will be used throughout the year by people at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness, such as sofa-surfing, unsuitable temporary accommodation, hostels, hotels, B&Bs and even rough sleeping.
10 staff members of John Frieda also joined together to volunteer their time at our Crisis at Christmas centres over the festive period. One volunteer said that 'spending the run up to Christmas giving back to our local community, volunteering with so many inspiring and like-minded people was the best feeling.’
A huge thank you to all at John Frieda for their amazing support, and we look forward to continuing to work together throughout 2023 and beyond to help people experiencing homelessness be seen for their full potential.
