Hush supports Crisis on Black Friday

We are thrilled to have been part of our long-term partner Hush’s Black Friday campaign this year. Instead of offering any discounts this year, Hush chose to donate 20% of all sales on the day to Crisis, and we’re delighted that they have raised over £70,000 to help us end homelessness for good.

Hush have joined Connect for Crisis as a platinum support, and will be part of a network businesses who have committed to using their expertise to help end homelessness for good. As part of this, a portion of their Black Friday donation will go towards our housing services, enabling us to support people who need help with their living situation to move into a safe, permanent home.

Hush’s donation will also go towards our Christmas services this year, which includes delivering hot food, ensuring that our members have access to advice and guidance, providing a befriending service, and online health, wellbeing and entertainment activities. This will enable us to continue to offer support and connection in a socially distanced way and will also provide some new volunteering opportunities.

Earlier in the year, we were also delighted to have Hush’s support as part of our In This Together emergency campaign, launched in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Hush raised over £20,000 towards the campaign through the sale of their bespoke ‘Together’ t-shirts, helping us to continue supporting people facing homelessness during the pandemic.

Jon Sparkes, chief executive of Crisis, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Hush and their customers for raising such a fantastic amount for Crisis, and for supporting our Connect for Crisis initiative. This year, more than ever, we need your support so that we can be there for people who are sleeping rough, sofa surfing or stuck in temporary accommodation.

“Christmas is one of the hardest times of year for people experiencing homelessness and this money will ensure we can continue to provide warmth, companionship and support to people across Britain this Christmas, and help people take their first steps out of homelessness.”

Mandy Watkins, founder of hush, said: “I don’t think any of us need reminding this year of all years of the importance of home and our home lives and we were delighted to continue our partnership with Crisis to support the amazing work they do supporting those experiencing homelessness at this time and campaigning to end homelessness for good.

“We should also thank our wonderful customers for all their support on the day. The worst of times often brings out the best in people and we were overwhelmed by the way in which they got behind the campaign and the money we were able to raise.”

Thank you so much to everyone at Hush for your continued support and generosity at this critical time.
