Christmas can be a difficult time for our guests. We are looking for volunteers with a background in mental health, counselling, social work etc to provide extra support for those who might need it. You are not providing a counselling service but your skills will be very beneficial for those guests who need someone to talk to.
Welcome Team volunteers are the first point of contact for Crisis at Christmas. It’s important that all our guests receive a warm welcome and introduction to the event, as well as understanding the house rules. It is beneficial to have good judgement, emotional intelligence and to be confident and assertive. The team is outside most of the time, so will need to wrap up warmly, but there will be lots of breaks to warm up inside with a hot drink. Welcome team volunteers need to be 21 years or over.
We are looking for Workshop leaders to provide a range of activities to our guests. Our guests are all different, with a range of interests and experiences, and our activities need to reflect this. Do you have a talent you could share? Workshop Leaders are needed to deliver fun, relaxed activities which accommodate a variety of skills, interests and numbers of participants. We're happy to hear your more unusual ideas, one of last years highlights was Beekeeping! (with a dormant hive).
