We will work side by side with you to find a way out of homelessness. How we support you will depend on your personal situation and needs.
We welcome everyone who comes to us for support. Sometimes, we will not be best placed to provide the support you need. If we are confident you can receive the right support elsewhere, we will help refer you to these services. And we will provide you with all the information you need so that you know what to do next.
Our focus is on supporting people who face the most barriers and cannot access support elsewhere. This could apply to you if you are unable to use public services because of your immigration status for example. Or if you need extra support accessing services.
How can Crisis help me?
We deliver services from 9 Skylight centres across Great Britain.
We’ve helped thousands of people end their homelessness over the years. Our approach is to focus on the positives – what you’re good at and your interests – rather than what might be holding you back.
We will work with you to build up your skills and confidence and help you take positive steps towards ending your homelessness. We believe in your potential, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.
We can help with:
- finding, securing and keeping a home
- making sure you have the support you are entitled to from the local authority
- claiming the right level of benefits
- vocational training and technical qualifications
- wellbeing and building confidence, including access to support from specialist clinical psychologists.
The type of support you receive will be based on your needs. One of our main priorities will be helping you to find a suitable home.
How will I be supported?
When you first contact us, you will hear back from a member of our engagement and assessment team within 24 hours. They will work out whether Crisis is best placed to help you, or whether there are other services that can. If another service can help, we will refer you and guide you through your next steps.
If being supported by Crisis is the best option for you, you will become a Crisis member and be assigned a Lead Worker. Your Lead Worker will be your consistent point of contact, guiding you through the various services Crisis has to offer and helping you to find a way out of homelessness.
Our approach to helping you
We support our members using psychological knowledge and techniques. We recognise you may have experienced traumatic events in your life that could be impacting your behaviour and reactions to certain situations. We also know that homelessness and discrimination can worsen these experiences.
Our goal is to create safe and stable relationships with you, to help you move on from past traumas. We want you to feel supported through every stage of your journey out of homelessness.
