Kirklees Council - Bond Guarantee Scheme

Project summary

If you want to rent a property in the private sector, and you can't afford the bond, you may be eligible for the bond guarantee scheme. The council provides a guarantee to the landlord, instead of a cash deposit, which covers damage/rent arrears up to the maximum value of the bond.

Clients

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for a bond guarantee you should be:-

• Homeless or threatened with homelessness
• On a low income or on benefits with little savings
• Able to maintain a tenancy
• Have a local connection to the area
• Have a priority need under homelessness legislation

• Relevant certificates obtained before tenancy (Gas Safety Certificate etc)
