By creating your virtual Crisis Christmas Stocking, you’re supporting Crisis’ vital work to end homelessness. These are real examples of items and services Crisis provide, but how we help someone depends on their individual needs and situation. Your donation today will therefore go where it’s most needed to support people experiencing homelessness.

Gaz’s Story

“I want to share my story because I want the donors to know they are changing lives. I’m living proof of where that money’s gone. Crisis helped me have a structure. I don’t know what I would have done without them.”

Gaz stands in a carpark in Winter. He is holding a rolled up sleeping bag and wearing a hat and gloves.

When Gaz first came to Crisis, he had nowhere safe to sleep. As well as having a tough childhood, he’d suffered serious health problems as an adult. When a relationship broke down, he then found himself struggling with his mental health.

“I felt so much pressure and my life just spiralled out of control”, Gaz said.

After finding him temporary accommodation, Crisis also helped Gaz get the medication – as well as the addiction and recovery support – he needed. He was a Crisis member for 20 months, and his life has totally changed in that time. As well as starting a job in the care sector, Gaz now volunteers with Crisis, helping other people on their own journeys out of homelessness.

Gaz’s story reflects a real member's experience, but his name and photo were changed to protect his identity.

You can support someone like Gaz to start their journey out of homelessness.
