Since 2017, JLL has raised an amazing £1.28M! What started as a 2-year partnership extended into a fruitful 5 years of working together, helping Crisis to support over 1,300 members through our Housing Coaches.
The JLL and Crisis partnership is an incredible achievement and at Crisis we regularly hold it up internally and externally as one of our most successful strategic partnerships to date.
Over the last 5 years, JLL lent their expertise and influence within the property sector; feeding into Crisis’ Plan to end homelessness and providing strategic input to our Best Practice, Policy, Retail and Senior Management teams. Their pro-bono support included developing infographics for our research team, building a scoping tool for our retail team to find new shop locations and helping us find and negotiate new Skylight centres in London and Edinburgh, creating truly holistic collaboration across all areas of Crisis services and JLL teams.
Although our official staff fundraising partnership has concluded, we will continue to lend each other strategic advice on housing and sustainability best practice and research.
"JLL smashing their initial target of £1.2M was a result of great engagement across the firm. Both Crisis and JLL worked extremely hard to build awareness of Crisis’ work and educate employees on homelessness. This is also our first strategic flagship partnership so there have been significant learnings on both sides and I’m delighted we were able to bring some of our professional expertise, skills and networks to the benefit of Crisis. Crisis is a highly knowledgeable, credible and trusted partner, they are excellent campaigners on homelessness and the values and principles of the organisation are evident across all teams." - Gemma Piggott, UK Head of Corporate Sustainability
Their amazing staff climbed mountains for us, hiked hills and organised countless raffles, bake sales and quizzes. They generously donated clothes, soap, office equipment and more to help our members. We couldn’t be more grateful for their enthusiasm and support over the last 5 years.
774 JLL staff gave up their time to volunteer in our English, Maths, IT, and arts classes, delivered employability skills training, sat as expert panellists on our Changing Lives grants programme and tirelessly helped out at our warehouse and our Christmas centres, demonstrating a genuine and sincere motivation to end homelessness as well as real commitment to the partnership and helping our members.
Aside from all the staff fundraising, Crisis was the beneficiary of JLL’s flagship Annual event, the JLL Property Triathlon- one of the biggest mass participation events in the UK giving Crisis exposure to JLL clients and partners across the property sector.
We are only able to deliver our work thanks to all our supporters and want to extend a massive thank you to everyone at JLL!
As a result of the pandemic, Crisis is currently facing an increase in need for our own services, with 227,000 families and individuals across Britain experiencing the worst forms of homelessness. This includes people sleeping on the streets, stuck in insecure accommodation like B&Bs, or forced to sleep in cars and sheds because they don’t have a place to call home.
Over the next 5 years, it will be imperative for Crisis to focus on developing new partnerships and continue to build relationships with the wider homelessness sector to help end homelessness for more people.
Ending homelessness doesn’t mean no-one will ever lose their home again, but everyone facing homelessness gets the support they need quickly.
