YMCA Mendip & South Somerset Deposit Guarantee Scheme/Move on & Private Rented Sector Support

Project summary

Deposit Guarantee scheme - a ‘guarantee’ against damage and theft can be offered to landlords in cases where a young person is on a low income and does not have cash available for a deposit.  Applicants should be over 18 and have a local connection to the Mendip Area.

Clients

Who is eligible?

Private Rented Sector Support - Over 25's single homeless and couples without dependants, those who are unemployed or on low income or benefits

Move-on-Scheme - all ages

Deposit Guarantee Scheme - Over 18's must be on a low income and have a local connection to the Mendip area

Client services

• Deposit Guarantee
• Move-on-Scheme which links singles or couples with no dependants to access accommodation vacancies in the private rented sector.
• Private Rented Sector Support which includes -
  • Help with accessing benefits 
  • Help to maintain private rented tenancies
  • Help to access secure accommodation

How are referrals made

Via Mendip District Council, Council Access Points, Various drop -in's or internally.
