Wycombe Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme
Project summary
The Wycombe Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme aims to help people who are homeless or in housing need gain access to privately rented accommodation by offering a guarantee against losses, damage or rent arrears in lieu of the usual deposit.
Clients
Who is eligible?
You must be:
Aged eighteen or over.
Homeless or in housing need. For example living in poor or unreasonable conditions, about to lose your home or sleeping rough.
In need of housing in the Wycombe District area and able to prove a local connection.
Able to live independently.
Entitled to full Local Housing Allowance with no deductions
Able to raise a months rent in advance.
Unable to raise a deposit yourself because you are unemployed, receiving benefits and and have no significant savings.
Client services
- Legal support on rights and responsibilities for tenants
- Housing Benefit assistance
- Welcome packs (food, furniture, kitchen items, etc)
- Practical support for tenants (e.g. advice on setting up tenancy/deposit)
- Property inspection
- Referral to support services
- Referrals to funiture projects
- Relevant certificates obtained before tenancy (Gas Safety Certificate etc)
- Rent in advance
- Tenancy support service
This scheme provides a referral to a Credit Union for a rent in advance loan
