Watford Borough Council - Homelet

Project summary

Watford HomeLet is a private renting incentive scheme run by Watford Council. Watford HomeLet matches landlords who have available properties with prospective tenants looking for a new home. Renting privately is a popular option for many people, but they are often prevented from doing so because they can't afford the deposits, fees, and rent in advance. This means they often ask the Council for help. HomeLet can assist by covering some of these costs, as well as offering the landlord a financial incentive in return for letting to one of our clients.

Clients

Who is eligible?

To apply for Watford HomeLet you need to have a local connection to Watford and be in housing need.

Our budget is limited so we cannot assist everyone who wants or needs our help. We have a priority system for properties available through HomeLet

  1.  Those in Watford Council temporary accommodation
  2.  Those who are threatened with homelessness and who will otherwise be going into Watford Council temporary accommodation
  3.  Those in high housing need on Watford Council's Housing Register.

If you are homeless, or threatened with homelessness, the sooner you contact the Homeless Prevention and Options Team the better

How are referrals made

To apply for Watford HomeLet you will need to complete the council's Housing Advice and Homelessness Enquiry Form which is available to download here. After downloading the form, please complete it, save it and email it to the council using this email address: housingief@watford.gov.uk.
