SEASCAPE Rent Deposit Scheme
Project summary
Seascape provides a rent deposit guarantee scheme to help people in housing need access suitable, affordable accommodation in the private rented sector.
Clients
Who is eligible?
The following eligibility conditions apply:-
- Over 16
- On a low income and/or on benefits
- Be unable to afford the amount for a cash deposit
- Be homeless or like to be come homeless or in housing need
Client services
- Referral to support services
- Practical support for tenants (e.g. advice on setting up tenancy/deposit)
- Assessment of client needs
- Assistance with application for community care grants and budgeting loans
- Benefit maximisation
- Bond Guarantees
- Client support plan
- Relevant certificates obtained before tenancy (Gas Safety Certificate etc)
- Housing Benefit assistance
- Property inspection
- Referrals to funiture projects
- Signposting for education, volunteering and employment opportunities
- Tenancy support service
- Fast track Housing Benefit service
Services also include setting up Credit Union Accounts for direct payment of rent.
How are referrals made
Via Housing Officer, or via self referral and an interview

- Direct payment of Housing Benefit
- Fast track Housing Benefit claims
Direct payment of Housing Benefits to landlords is done by using Credit Union accounts
