Crisis teams up with Chillie London and 46 Stitch to offer denim with a conscience

Today (Thursday 22 September) Crisis, the national homelessness charity, has launched ‘Reclaim our Denim’, a campaign encouraging us all to buy second-hand and support a more sustainable, circular clothing economy. The charity has teamed up with Chillie London and 46 Stitch, to celebrate all things preloved and promote a progressive shopping experience, offering uniquely designed denim clothing and accessories with a conscience.

Chillie London and 46 Stitch have curated a run of special pieces to mark the relaunch of Shop from Crisis, the online shop located at shopfromcrisis.org.uk, where all profits from items sold go towards Crisis’ mission to end homelessness for good.

Chillie London curate pre-loved clothing and source and restyle handpicked pieces, offering a unique styling experience in second-hand clothes. The brand has supplied Crisis with denim sweatshirts made of premium organic cotton farmed in a more sustainable way than normal cotton. The supply chain is tracked so the bar code inside each sweatshirt can be scanned to show what country the jumper was made in and even who the farmer was.

46 Stitch is a British accessories brand that creates timeless pieces from fabric remnants and Liberty prints, promoting a circular motion of design, process and distribution to benefit its customers and the planet. It aims to promote local working partnerships and avoid waste. 46 Stitch has supplied Crisis with denim collars made from recycled fabric and offcuts and sewn by local seamstresses in London.

As well as the items from Chillie London and 46 Stitch, shoppers will be able to find other pre-loved treasures such as statement denim jackets and vintage jeans on Shop from Crisis.

Georgina Evans, Head of Retail at Crisis, said: “We’re in an age of fashion where what we wear - and how sustainable it is - is of growing importance. With both the global and economic climate at the forefront of many people’s minds, more people want to shop more consciously. Denim is the worst ethical and environmental polluter in the fashion industry, but our campaign is about highlighting that we can continue to love this staple because there are so many fantastic opportunities to buy second-hand.

“We’re really excited to team up with Chillie London and 46 Stitch, brands that share our values of conscious style. Together we hope to inspire pre-loved and unique finds that look good, feel good and do good. By shopping with Crisis every purchase made helps end homelessness for good.”

As well as denim, Shop from Crisis also offers clothes edits in categories such as Vintage, Streetwear and Athleisure. Alongside quality second-hand items the website also sells new products from independent and socially minded brands. This includes Labre’s Hope – a social enterprise which produces hand-crafted, vegan, natural soaps and employs people with experience of homelessness to help them rebuild their lives, and Pivot, another social enterprise that empowers people experiencing homelessness to pivot their lives through making jewellery.

Crisis also has 11 shops in locations across London, including Finsbury Park, Hammersmith, and Hackney. Each shop sells different unique items including quality, pre-loved furniture, jewellery and clothing from High Street, independent and vintage brands.
