Our strategy for ending homelessness

It’s a scandal that people are homeless. Every day it’s destroying lives in our communities. But we can solve it. By working together, we can create a stronger society for us all.

In ten years, the number of people experiencing homelessness will be going down. This doesn’t mean that no one will ever lose their home again. But there will be better ways to prevent it and solutions when it happens. Our strategy sets out how we’ll achieve this.

Our three aims

Securing policies that solve homelessness

We can end homelessness – we just need the right policies and social change. We’ll campaign in England, Scotland, and Wales to get the change we need. We’ll also challenge discrimination and damaging beliefs about homelessness.

Delivering services that end homelessness for people and places

We’ll build a network of Crisis Centres across the country. Every centre will deliver the best services to our members, and a plan for ending homelessness locally. We’ll also provide over 1,000 homes to our members. We’ll do this in partnership with people facing homelessness, volunteers and local organisations

Building a community of people across Britain helping to end homelessness

Together we can demand and create change. We’ll develop and support a national community that is determined to end homelessness for good. From landlords and employers to teachers and healthcare professionals; everyone is welcome to play their part.

“Life without homelessness is possible. We know because we have been through it.”
— Ana, Elena, Nicholas, Sarka and Tom (Crisis Experts by Experience)

Our strategy was co-produced with our Experts by Experience (people with lived experience of homelessness). Their insight has shaped our vision and solutions. With their involvement, we can be confident that what we have set out is realistic and achievable.

What we’ll achieve in the next 10 years

By 2034, for thousands of people experiencing homelessness, the nightmare will be over. Working together we will:

  • secure government strategies for ending every kind of homelessness across Britain
  • see a marked drop in homelessness across Britain
  • see a reduction in homelessness by up to 50% in every area with a dedicated Crisis Centre
  • double our success so that over 80% of our members leave homelessness behind for good
  • provide over 1,000 homes to our members
  • expand Crisis at Christmas, and make sure 80% of people don’t return to the street
  • positively change public attitudes to homelessness.

Our people and culture

Ending homelessness starts with our people and how we work together.

Crisis will be a place where everyone – our staff, people facing homelessness, volunteers and supporters – are proud of their contribution to ending homelessness.

We’ll work closely together, learn from each other, and make sure people who’ve experienced homelessness are at the heart of our work.
