Square Mile Run FAQs

Relay and Run participants must come to the registration tent on the day to pick up their baton (for the relay), chip timing and t-shirt. Registration is open from 12-6.30pm. 

The suggested amount is £50 per person for the solo and £200 per team for the relay.

Yes, of course! But please make sure you complete the registration for each. 

No, there is no secure facility to store it on the day. It must be sent to Crisis by bank transfer, cheque or through your online sponsorship page.

Yes, there will be toilets at both events. At the solo run, the public toilets in Paternoster Square will be open free of charge from 6pm. These are limited and can get busy. Before this, there is a 50p charge.

No, runners should turn up ready to race on both days or use the public toilets.

Yes, there will be a baggage marquee on both days located in Paternoster Square and the Tate Modern. For security reasons, runners will not be able to leave any baggage in the marquee unless it is clearly marked with their name and runner number on a luggage tag. Luggage tags will be available at the baggage tent on the day. If you are coming straight from work and can leave belongings in your office if it’s nearby we advise that you do this.

Yes, please bring your confirmation email (on your phone or printed) to the registration tent, which will be open from 12-6.30pm. You will need to know the t-shirt sizes of your team mates.

There will be water and a snack for each runner, but please ensure that you have your own for before and during the race and that you are sufficiently hydrated as supply is limited. Food and drink is also available for purchase at the many outlets near the finish line.

First Aiders will be on hand to help throughout both events. Should anyone need assistance alert the nearest marshal or come to the event information desk near the start line.

All race timing results will be posted online as soon as possible at www.crisis.org.uk/smr after the race.

If the event isn’t full there will be a number of places for late entrants, however these can go very quickly, so to avoid disappointment we advise people to enter before the day if possible. Entrants on the day should make their way to the separate ‘New Entry’ line where registration will cost £35 for the Run and £100 per team for the Relay.

Wear your Crisis Square Mile Run t-shirt that you will receive on race day. Wear comfortable running gear and some comfortable running trainers.

There are numerous bars in both Paternoster Square for the run and around the Tate Modern for the relay event that people can go and celebrate with team mates and friends.

Most certainly! If it does rain please come prepared in suitable clothing. If weather conditions are such that it is deemed unsafe to hold the event we reserve the right to cancel.

Yes, we’d love to have your help.

On both days we need:

Route marshals Directing our runners, ensuring their safety and providing plenty of cheers and encouragement throughout the route.

Site stewards Registering runners, handing out t-shirts, staffing the baggage area, keeping the event site tidy and handing out water.

Volunteers should turn up at 5pm at Paternoster Square (run) and outside the Tate Modern (relay) and make their way to the registration tent where they will be met and briefed by our team. 

If you can no longer volunteer, please email smr@crisis.org.uk.

Roles are being allocated on the day and you will either be site stewards or route marshals.
