About Crisis at Christmas

Christmas can be very challenging, but particularly for people who do not have a place that they can call home. We mobilise a huge volunteer effort to bring warmth, companionship, and vital services to people at one of the hardest times of the year. We help people take their first steps out of homelessness, offering Crisis’ year-round support and training to help them leave homelessness behind for good

About the role

Based in our Christmas warehouse, our Driver Volunteers are integral to the delivery of Crisis at Christmas. Transporting goods, volunteers and guests this role can be varied and is very reactive to the demands of the shift.

Skills and experience we are looking for

  • Confident driving a range of vehicles, ranging from small cars to Luton vans
  • Good communication skills
  • For insurance purposes, drivers are required to be between the ages of 25 and 65 and have held a licence for at least two years. This will be validated through a DVLA Summary, which is a requirement of this role. More information can be found here.

Additional info

The role will be based in our warehouse in Canning Town, with regular travel throughout Greater London.

Shifts are available before and after centers open, these are to assist with the collection and return of donated vehicles.

Although the Transport Office will not allocate a transport job, or vehicle you are not comfortable with. Drivers who are outright not comfortable driving larger vehicles (9 seaters) should consider applying for alternative roles.
