Volunteer at Crisis at Christmas in Birmingham

Crisis at Christmas is a unique volunteer effort that provides immediate help for our Members (those who are, or at risk of becoming, homeless) at a critical time of year. By volunteering with Birmingham's Crisis this Christmas you can make a real difference to people experiencing homelessness in Birmingham. We have a range of Christmas events over December and into early January and will need a range of volunteers over this time, including general volunteers, kitchen staff, drivers, entertainers and key service providers. The dates where we are looking for volunteers are the 11, 19, 23, 24 and 25 December. Follow the links below to find out more and apply for a role!

Your Christmas questions answered

We kick off our Christmas events on 3 December 2019 with our annual Carol Concert. We then have Health & Wellbeing days taking place on 11, 17, 19 and 23 December 2019 and of course our Christmas day celebration on 25 December 2019.

For Christmas in Birmingham we open for Wellbeing Days. Our sessions are for guests who have accommodation of some kind, such as hostels, B&Bs, those who are sofa surfing or get their accommodation from different sources. A small minority may be rough sleeping or may have come to us from winter night shelters. These days run from 10:30am to 3:30pm, providing lunch and snacks for all guests as well as activities, entertainment and essential services such as advice and healthcare.

We also hold a Christmas Day event for our Members - this is a full day of Christmas festivities and food.

Yes! there are lots of ways you can support Birmingham's Christmas Events. Contact us at ccbirmingham@crisis.org.uk to find out more, or visit our Amazon Wishlist to donate items directly to us.

Our centres in Birmingham are in East and Central Birmingham. They are located in buildings that are donated to Crisis for use over Christmas only, such as schools, colleges and empty buildings.

For security and confidentiality reasons, the locations of our centres are confidential and full addresses can only be provided once volunteers have been confirmed.

Where possible, we give an idea of centre location via ‘whereabouts’ maps on the online application. These give a rough idea of location without detailing the exact address.

Applications for previous volunteers open on 14 October and on 21 October for the general public.

Volunteers must be aged 18 or older. The only role where there is a different age limit is our drivers who must be between 25 and 65 years old.
