BHT Eastbourne Advice’s specialist housing advice team are able to provide free and confidential advice to people on possession action, homelessness, suitability of accommodation, tenancy rights, disrepair and allocations policies
Clients
Who is eligible?
Aged 18+ homeless or threatened with homelessness, single people or couples and not owed a statutory duty.
Client services
- Assessment of client needs
- Practical support for tenants (e.g. advice on setting up tenancy/deposit)
- Pre-tenancy training
- Signposting for education, volunteering and employment opportunities
BHT Eastbourne works with clients to develop a "Portfolio of qualities" to show to prospective landlords, which are designed to support clients in finding and maintaining a tenancy in the private market. Clients are also signposted into other services s
How are referrals made
This service is available to all Eastbourne residents who have a housing issue that requires legal advice. For residents of Lewes and Wealden we can offer appointments in our Eastbourne office for residents with a housing issue that requires legal advice under our contract with the legal Aid Agency.
